Ever since I graduated from high school, got married, and had a kid… well hard core gaming just isn’t so interesting anymore. I still like to relax after a long day of blogging with a game or two online… most games today are a little bit violent for our 2 year old child… I picked up Dungeon Defenders along with a couple of extra copies for my cousin and wife. Gaming just isn’t any good without people to play with! And since Dungeon Defenders allows you to create your own game server means you’re not reliant on the dungeon defenders game server. My octo-core 16GB RAM rendering box here works great for keeping games lag free
I think a lot of people have complete amnesia some times. The AMD FX-4100 is essentially a dual core processor, yes I know it is “quad” core, but it is really a dual Bulldozer core system. The fact that it is competitive with quad core processors is simply amazing! I think AMD has some tweaking to do, but if you absolutely cannot wait for your FX processor I suggest the FX 4100, it can potentially be unlocked to an eight core CPU, and overclocking in general with this beast is intense! The new AMD FX lineup runs on so little power, and produces so little heat that you can push one of these to 4.6ghz on air! 5ghz should be no problem with a little water cooling
Most of you who have followed this blog over the years know that as with many people my age, my gaming habits have transformed over the years. I’ve gone to more of a casual gamer, playing online titles, and other games that don’t monopolize my time. One of those online games I’ve gotten into is OurWorld. It’s a fun little game that you can log on and off without requiring you to spend hours at a time playing… well unless you want to get enough gems to do anything, or become a resident. That’s why I was so happy when I found this video that shows you how to get Ourworld Resident Account, Gem Codes, Gems, Cheats and other stuff. The
This is quite possibly my favorite mouse of all time. I’ve had a lot of mice over the years, gaming, ergonomic, tablets… all sorts of input devices to replace the mouse… Nothing quite matches the Logitech G9X Laser Gaming Mouse. I can’t believe other mouse manufacturers haven’t caught on… there are a couple of very simple but very effective ideas that the Logitech G9X Laser Gaming Mouse incorporates. One of them is the onboard memory! Okay, so programable buttons, macros, and different profiles are available with a lot of mice anymore… but most of them require the software to do it, which means I can’t use my macros when on Linux… The Logitech G9X Laser Gaming Mouse is a totally different animal in that respect. It stores my profiles IN THE MOUSE!!! Which means that I can use everything exactly as I have programmed it no matter what computer, or operating system I am on. It may not look it, but it is also very ergonomic, the low profile design keeps your hand in a more natural position. The left click primary button is a separate button, very easy to click… while the right click is made into the body making it slightly more stiff helping you avoid accidental slipups of pressing the wrong button (especially important in First Person Shooter Games). If you have not already tried the Logitech G9X Laser Gaming Mouse DO SO NOW!! I also especially love the micro gear so that you can switch between a firm click scrolling, and a very smooth fast scrolling wheel! It helps reduce repetitive impact injuries that other mice create, while also allowing you to precisely select through scrolling.
Genius makes a decent twin motor vibration feedback racing wheel… but before I discovered that I got one of these from Genius trying to get my cousin into playing some racing games with me! Uh… yeah… ForceFeedback strength is very low, if it works at all. It clanks and makes a lot of noises that makes you think it’s going to fall apart too! No, you get just as much sensation with the Genius vibration feedback wheel… so I would say don’t waste the extra money. If you’re looking for a super cheap easy way to get into racing games grab a Genius vibration feedback wheel… it’ll serve you better in my opinion
This is my sweet spot, my little piece of heaven! I’ve been waiting for the AMD FX 8150 for a VERY long time! Or at least it feels like a very long time… A beast CPU for 3D rendering, and gaming. The FX lineup from AMD is a multi-taskers dream come true! A lot of people are quick to judge the fact that the AMD FX-8150 only barely passes similarly priced Intel CPU’s… what they haven’t taken into account is A) real world use, and B) overclocking! This beast overclocks itself, when under full load I’ve never seen mine hit less than 3.8ghz across the whole spectrum! It only runs at 3.6ghz if the heat is too much, and well… THE HEAT DOESN’T GET TOO MUCH WITH THIS CPU!!! Seriously, 8 cores and it runs cool still… That is an amazing feat, it means AMD could of pushed these bad boys a lot further than they did… but they give you that option! If you want to push your CPU to its limits you can easily do so overclocking (the 3.8ghz mine runs is a factory setting, it does so automatically unless heat gets too much). I’ve read a lot of reviews where they get a 30% performance increase (in some instances) from an overclock to 4.2ghz across the whole spectrum! That’s pretty intense… haven’t messed with it myself, but I imagine with my quad 120mm fan radiator I should be able to hit 4.5ghz without breaking a sweat
Oh, and I was talking about real world performance… Granted I’m moving from an AMD quad core CPU… but the AMD FX-8150 makes everything faster for me! I’ve got 4 15,000 RPM hdd’s in RAID 5, and the speed in which I can load, save, and boot up increased dramatically. For someone who multi-tasks using multiple monitors, and 5 or 10 programs at once… there isn’t anything faster! The AMD FX-8150 has helped my computer keep up with my rate of work! So to all the nay sayers… maybe it’s not for you, but for me the AMD FX 8150 8-Core Processor 3.6ghz x8 Socket AM3+ FD8150FRGUBOX is exactly what the doctor ordered
If my previous review of the Logitech Wireless Performance MX mouse enticed you, but didn’t seem to have enough functionality for you… well then the Logitech Wireless Gaming Mouse G700 is your mouse! I’m not an MMORPG player, and the additional buttons don’t help me in any game I play… but I still love this mouse! Not only is it wonderfully ergonomic (similar design as the MX) but it has all kinds of macro keys that I use when working online. I save code snippets that I use a lot in macros, links that I am using a lot, or strings of information all can be saved on the Logitech Wireless Gaming Mouse G700 with enough keys to let you program tons of functionality in. You can use the keys for all sorts of fuctions like changing brush sizes in photoshop, saving, macros… you name it… I love this little mouse it helps me be more productive than I could be without it.
Needless to say, some of the recent game titles that have been hyped up for months have turned out to be complete busts in the fun zone. I think the gaming industry is taking too many cues from Hollywood in hopes to become the predominate form of entertainment in America. The lack of creativity is astounding, so many refreshes of old games, series that never die, and lackluster use of new technology. I play most of my games online with my cousin, and if I don’t play with him I just don’t play a game much. So I was looking for a way to get my cousin into racing games… I bought him Grid because it’s the most fun racing game I’ve ever played. The crashes are spectacular, even if you can take more damage that you would in real life… and the driving is the perfect mix of realistic and simplified arcade like features. Anyways… I knew it was the perfect game for him. Grid as a racing game is simply fun, it’s not always my racing game of choice, especially when I’m looking for more realism, but it does a great job of keeping you around, and keeping things fun. Even with a somewhat skimpy track and car selection at times the game is still astoundingly fun!
I still have high hopes for a Grid 2, they could keep the game very similar to what it is now, just give me a few more cars, and some more tracks. Especially the crash derby races! In addition to the two tracks that are there now give me a dirt track with big jumps, and wash board sections that make you fight to stay on the track… and a more open arena. Then add 2 other cars to choose from. That would complete the demolition derby for most people I think… Then just expand the game in general, 5 or 6 more tracks, and 10 – 15 more cars… Most of this stuff would be perfectly acceptable (to me) to be released in content packs… but being an older game I doubt that would come to fruition. Before Codemasters picked up the F1 series they said they were going to do a Grid 2… but now with the dirt series, and the F1 series… I doubt they have the time for such a venture… Would be nice to see for those of us that prefer a fun game with a mixed bag of cars and events… not a huge fan of the F1 and Dirt games because you don’t seem to get enough variety.
After 2 years, and over 200 hours of gameplay on my Fanatec 911 Porsche wheel it’s developed some really odd quirks… working on fixing some of them, and it’s going well at times… but while I get some money together to build a fiberglass box around my wheel to mount some fans to I got the cheapest replacement I could find. The Genius Twin Vibration Feedback F1 Racing Wheel is a great stand in. The wheel is a bit small, and it’s not force feedback (vibration feedback) but for a cheap wheel that’s better… you don’t want a force feedback cheap wheel, they break too easily. Heck I paid $200 for my FF wheel and it is now having over heating issues. Just for a cheap racing wheel though I really like this Genius Twin Vibration Feedback F1 Racing Wheel it mounts easily, stays put, and has “lap wings” that allow you to play easily from a couch!!! Seriously there are some insanely expensive wheels that don’t come with lap wings… I mean it only makes sense to me… Anyways looking to try out some digital racing but don’t want to spend a bucket load of money? Get yourself a Genius Twin Vibration Feedback F1 Racing Wheel! I’m gonna keep this one around and let my son play on it when he’s old enough to race against daddy
When I first got into racing games it was to get away from playing so many FPS games… I needed an escape that got a little adrenaline rush that did not involve shooting people in the face with a desert eagle It was creating a bit of a violent attitude for me. I figured racing games would be a better release… and for the most part that is correct. I actually became a more careful driver, crashing is no fun, even in a game (it also doesn’t help ya win)… so it taught me how and what to look for in others behavior to detect an accident coming up. However, now that I’ve been playing NFS: Hot Pursuit I’m running into my original problem again it’s a fun game, but I don’t think it should be my main focus with racing games… a game that rewards you for crashing ain’t such a good idea for forming good driving behavior. So it’s back to Grid for me, a good game with realistic crashes
