If you know me you know that I’ve got my computer pretty pimped out. Being that I run an online business from home, game, and store my families precious moments on my home computer over the years it has evolved into more of a workstation computer than anything else. I run RAID 5 for speed and protection, have a very fast quad core CPU, and 8 gigs of RAM. But all of that is for nothing if I lose the years of work and information stored on my hard drives. For a long time I thought that RAID 5 was pretty impenetrable and for my uses it was… but then age started to kick in and I lost my first hard drive, shortly followed by problems with the RAID controllers cables to the drives… I nearly lost 10 years of information in moments. After that I started to use an online backup solution to keep my files, pictures, videos, websites, 3D models, and even my game high scores stored at an off site location. To me a few dollars a month is well worth the peace of mind and security of knowing that if something happens to my home computer I won’t lose my livelihood in an instance.
