There are a lot of jobs that won’t hire someone without schooling under their belt. Having a degree whether it pertains to the job or not can help you to get a job. Even for those who do construction work, and operate heavy equipment on a daily basis can have better chances of getting a job with the right training. Any sort of factory, industrial, or construction job requires certain technical skills, skills that can either make you or break you in the industry. When you have the right skills you are more valuable to a company, which means more money for you, better job positions, and less likely to be laid off in times of economic down turns.

So you don’t have the skills to operate heavy equipment? Don’t worry Equipment-School.com offers training for operation of heavy equipment. No matter the skill level you are, or what you know about heavy equipment having the training and certification to use heavy equipment will give you the edge you need to land the job you want. Don’t let the economic down turn slow you down, get online right now and get the training for operation of heavy equipment that you need to land that dream job of yours.

There are a lot of web hosting companies out there any more. Many of them not really “hosting” anything themselves they just rent a server or two from someone else and resell it to you. KVCHosting.com is different. They have premium web hosting with 99.99% guaranteed up time! The servers your website will be running on are Xeon Happertown 8 Processor with 8GB ram. That means you’re running with 8 of the most powerful processing cores around, and more RAM than any single website could ever need. Aside from the amazing hardware your site will be running on you will also get a free domain, free dedicated IP, rvsiteubuilders (with 500 templates), Shell Access (Very important for people like myself who develop with CakePHP and use the bake functions), CPANEL 11, Fantastico script and many more features! Not only are they cheap web hosting they are top of the line quality hosting!

Scam Check from Nigeria

Scam Check from Nigeria

About two months ago I got an email from Akanji Fawaz from the company real heritage int’l nig ltd. I did some research and quickly found some very funny and odd listings from this “company” They list their company as buying gold jewelry, computer parts, and a variety of other things to resell. Funny part is that on 4 different sites I found 5 listings for real heritage int’l nig ltd all five listings had different dates for when the company was “founded” earliest dated back to 1991. Earliest posting was made in 2002… which really surprised me since this scam has been running that long and they haven’t been called out and there isn’t anything to find this company as a rip off online. Obviously they’ve been running off of various different company names this whole time.

Anyways, the email I got was weird from beginning to end. It was a reply to a PRWeb Press Release that I did for my handcrafted jewelry business. Which clearly stated that we had sterling silver, and copper jewelry but makes no mention of Gold jewelry. Mr. Fawaz Akanji emailed me asking if we had Gold jewelry… some what irritated I responded with a very brief message stating that we didn’t have any gold just sterling silver, and copper leaving him with my web address for my site (which was in the PRWeb Press Release as well). Akanji Fawaz emailed me back then asking what items I did have… I told him again that I have sterling silver, and copper jewelry and pointed out very bluntly that if he wanted to look at my catalog he could do so by visiting my website ArchmailleDesigns.com and look at the stock. Fawaz Akanji of real heritage int’l nig ltd emailed me back again saying that he would take 3 different items 25 pieces each…

That really is fine, it would take some work as I NEVER have 25 of each item made up but if real heritage int’l nig ltd and Akanji Fawaz was really interested I could spend the time to make the jewelry and send it off with 50% up front non-refundable. Since I was sort of hopeful, but still sure that it was most likely a scam. Akanji Fawaz wanted to pay up front with a check coming from real heritage int’l nig ltd of Nigeria even though I asked them to pay with PayPal if possible. I understand that PayPal doesn’t really let anyone from Nigeria sign up for an account… but if they bank in another country they still can.

I got the check recently which is so obviously a scam it’s not even funny. The “check” is printed by a specialty printing company that DOES NOT print checks (the web address is along the left hand side). The Routing number, and bank account number along the bottom are improperly formatted, and it is from a bank that only has branches in England. Not to mention it is printed on one side, the back is 100% blank, and there are no security features to speak of. Not to mention after doing much more searching I finally did find Akanji Fawaz email address onik2009@yahoo.com listed elsewhere online on scam report pages.

The 4,450 GBP which is equivelent to about 7,380 USD at today’s exchange rate would be nice… but it is too bad there are so many scams around because this rip off check isn’t going to any banks, it’s just getting posted up here for the world to see, and maybe become a little more educated. If I help only one person do the research to find a scam that’s good enough for me.

Things to search for if you suspect a scam:

  • Persons name who sent you the email
  • Companies related to this person (either in the email, or that you’ve found in the search results)
  • Email address of sender

Don’t forget to put “scam” “rip off” and any other terms after the names to help your searching. example: Fawaz Akanji Scam Artist or real heritage int’l nig ltd scam

Searching for these in Google or Yahoo will help you to decipher whether the trade deal is legitimate or not. The results you find online should not be taken as the final word as to whether or not you have been scammed! Many scams have not yet been discovered and therefore you will not find the results of them.

If you’ve ever looked for professionals to help you with your work you probably know just how hard it can be to find people who are truly experts in the field you need. Especially trusted ones that aren’t looking to rip you off. Recently I posted a job that I needed done on the web on another “professional” website only to get countless “offers” from “businesses” in Nigeria looking to take on the job… needless to say they were all scams of course, but still wasted my time.

With Mavenlink that problem isn’t so profound. Everything is in the open right from the beginning with Mavenlink, your profile is in the open so if you’ve tried to rip someone off before everyone knows. People can also see your technical skills if you’re like me and build sites for people then people can see the jobs that you’ve taken before, look at examples, and decide if you have the technical skills required for a job. This is much better than any other professional finding website I’ve been on where you are shooting in the dark as to whether or not the person you are hiring can actually do the job you are requesting. Mavenlink is more like an open forum where professionals and experts gather to work together, rather than compete and slit each others throats for jobs.

Things are actually starting to become steady for my income on websites which is nice. The last 3 days I’ve made $1.50 or more on my Yahoo ads, AdBrite is starting to increase as well to about $3 per week. I make a steady stream of $70/month from LinkWorth and $9 a month from TLA. Then on top of those steady streams that I do nothing for I also make about $300 a month from what I can grab off of the PPP network. So it’s not like a booming business or anything… but we’re keeping our heads above water, combine all this with the web page design work that I have been doing and we’re surviving after everything.

Still not making enough to expand with advertising, and really grow the business… but that will come later.

Many of my loyal readers know that a couple of years ago when I was working for Viacom the way that I got the job was because one of my friends was on the real world casting website. I went to the site and noticed that some of the top people were only at the top because the site had been hacked. The MTV people obviously hadn’t noticed the problem yet either. So I went to find out what the problem was, after hacking the website myself I made a video of it, emailed them and sent the video. Not long after they offered me a job in IT Security for all of their websites. That kind of hacking is what we call Ethical Hacking or #CEH, where a hacker breaks security of a network to help the company protect from real hacker threats. I’m not a Certified Ethical Hacker which is why I haven’t been able to get any other hacking jobs. But that is okay since I’ve been running my own websites now, I would still like to be certified by the EC-Council one day just for a little bit of job security (Pun intended). I know that most people think of a hacker as a bad thing, but we’re not all bad… of course if there weren’t the bad ones there wouldn’t be any reason for the good ones either.

Blah! I hate do-overs… So I was building a site for this jeweler in Parkville that I know, of course he’s paying me but it’s turning out to be a little bit of a pain. He doesn’t really know what he wants, so I’m kicking this thing out in CakePHP, as I add and change things I’ve come to the conclusion that I’m going to have to start over with the design. Get to a certain point, and then he wants this, or that and poof everything changes! Some of what I’ve got can stay, but a lot of it has to be moved and/or changed.

Oh well, I guess that it will be fine just gotta get on the changes :-P

I know when we first got a computer at our house it seemed like once a week I was finding a way to clear off virus’, spyware, trojans, and malware of all kinds. It seemed the only options back then for antivirus software was Norton, and McAfee neither of which were really “solutions” so much as really big virus’ themselves (No seriously have you ever tried to uninstall Norton? It re-installs itself, and all kinds of ridiculousness that a virus will do). Luckily now there are more intelligent Antivirus Software such as VIPRE. VIPRE is light weight and won’t kill your computer just to protect it, it is effective as it protects against both virus’ and spyware. Since there isn’t just one type of threat online you should protect yourself from more than just the average virus with VIPRE. Plus right now you can get a free 15 day trial of VIPRE just to see how much different (and quite frankly better) it really is!

Seems like I’ve got more “new” sites in the last year than you could ever handle… and that’s probably true. Refinements to old sites like KCLANParty got a make over (and not just aesthetics, whole site design). I opened up the vacuum review site YourVacuumGuy.com which went well… except it was supposed to be a review site with new reviews added by my dad… that’s going to have to change since I can’t seem to motivate him to do anything with it. Just been working on updating and adding a lot to my website “empire” or “E-Pire” as I’ve sometimes come to refer to it. Now I’m working on yet another addition to the group of sites I’m running. This time a joint adventure between my wife and I. We’re going to be doing what we love to do most… reviewing pr0n. I’ve got CuteNaughtyNude.com where we give ratings on photo sets and videos with 1-5 ratings of cuteness, naughtiness, and well nudeness because you know how some of those photo sets go where you don’t even get down to the good stuff!

The site isn’t a huge priority right now… and won’t even begin to see the light of day until I get the jewelry website I’m working on for a jeweler here in Parkville done. It’ll be an adventure either way you look at it ;-)
