Gah! So much for a speedy release of my new site… Went to launch it and ended up with more hassle than anything… kind of glad it happened now since we learn more from our failures than we do our successes. Had this site launched successfully with how craptacularly I put it together I would of been highly tempted to launch my next couple of websites in the same manor. A rushed release is never a good thing, I mean that’s what I spent most of my time trying to get across to the people at MTV when I was building and testing sites for them.

So what happened with this last website? I was in a hurry, and really don’t have much free time working 6 days a week at my seasonal job, just sort of wanted to get this site out quick. So I built the front end to 90% functional (thought it was 100% when I did it just to realize that people are dumber than I remember sometimes). Forgot to limit some stuff to where people can only enter certain things (like the year field can be left blank, and other things like such). I also left an unpassworded backend. That bit me in the buttox real quick. So now the site is basically on hold until I get around to shoring up some of the loose ends.

A lot of people look at this stock market with a lot of despair and grief, but for some (like myself) we see opportunity! I’m glad that we don’t all have to stand on the trading floor screaming over one another to buy or sell stock any more too! Now with the internet and computers the way that they are it is much easier for anyone to get into trading stock online. Still some other trading platforms that I’ve used can be confusing, expensive, and unreliable (often running behind on their tickers which can cost you tons of money).

That’s why I love TradeMonster so much! TradeMonster spawns from the website optionsMONSTER.com which is a forum based platform for trading tips and secrets. The members of this forum were like me fed up with all of the trading software available to them. Of course how many of them had the knowledge or money to get a new software program that fit their online stock broker needs? Needless to say they worked together to develop an easy to use, functional, and up to date online stock broker system that would give them the advantage over everyone else! Now tradeMONSTER is available to all of us! And let me say that after using it myself… I love it!!!

I’ve always been a huge fan of the skyhawk line of citizen watches. They’re not your fluffy girly watches that a lot of companies make. Even the “elite” brands out there like Rolex that is supposed to make high end watches, they all seem very feminine. Not the Skyhawk line from Citizen though, they’re just a strong watch, designed well, with masculine styling. I like having all the dials and nobs possible right up front with my watch so that I can see the date, and other important information displayed on the face. Some people don’t like it because of the cluttered look, I personally like the busyness of the face makes it seem more useful (and if I’m paying that much for a watch it better be useful.

Now I don’t live in Texas, but I know all about plumbers. My uncle in law was telling me about Texas plumbing services by a guy Ernies Plumbing. I know how important a good plumber can be living in a house that is set just outside of the city limits, and more than 40 years old you bet we’re on a septic system. Septic systems really aren’t that bad, in my opinion they are better for the environment since it gets rid of the waste more naturally, and in 12 years of living at this house we’ve never had to get the tank pumped. Not saying that we haven’t had our fair share of problems though. The pipes from the house to the tank used to be clay, and they got over run by tree roots a few years back causing our basement to flood. Got that fixed and switched over to PVC pipe, but with an old house like this you run into plumbing troubles all the time. Among many other troubles. Like all of the faucets and toilets in the house didn’t have shut off valves when we first moved in so if you wanted to do work you had to shut off the water the the whole house… more than a little annoying. Luckily we’ve got a plumber friend who does good work.

IT professionals are an odd group of people, you know it’s true because I can be considered an IT professional. We all have our quirks, one of them is being extremely particular on how we study, and lets face it a lot of school settings just don’t cater to custom study habits. That’s why QuickCert.com was developed! They provide study materials and allow you to get certification for IT jobs at your own pace, in your own way! They’ve got great MCSE certification courses available right now for anyone who was looking at becoming MCSE certified but never really got around to it for whatever reason. Now no matter how busy your schedule is, or what odd study habits you have you can learn at your own pace and get the certification you need to get ahead in your industry!

I hate it when my Epson toner runs low. For me printers have always created the most problems for our small business. You want them to print landscape, they think the page would look better printed portrait style. You need 500 copies printed, after every 100 it decides to either jam, or run out of ink/toner. And then there is the infamous connection troubles. You plug the printer in, go to print and get a message “Unable to find printer” at which point you just want to scream “What do you mean you can’t find it?!?! It’s right there!!! Not more than 3 feet away!” or “You were able to find it last night when you went rogue and printed off 300 jobs that had been canceled last week.”

Either way printers can be a pain, we all know this. I may not be able to help you with all of your troubles right now. But I know of a website that can help you with the small issue of toner running low. Abacus24-7.com has a wide selection of Inks, Toners, and Cartridges for all of your printer needs. Never be left without ink again and don’t get stuck with the frustrations of running low on toner without having some spares. Abacus24-7.com has great prices so you don’t have to worry about searching everywhere for the best deals… you’ve already found them!

In a hard economy like this, there is a lot of panic and fear being spread. The spread of fear and chances of losing your job are perpetuated by the media. The truth of the matter however is that there is great opportunity in these times. A lot of now great companies started out from the great depression. But how do you make money or even keep your money when it seems that so many people are losing everything right now? What opportunities are out there? Is the banking system even safe?

For the answers to these questions you really need a financial advisor. How does one tell the scams from the legit business operations though? You’re not the only one looking for opportunities today, and some go about things in not so legitimate ways, claiming to be financial advisors who in reality will just take your money and run with it. That’s why I chose Financial Advisor Solutions for my financial advice. They’re a well known trusted business with over 40 years of market expertise. They’ve been through several recessions and taught many people how to keep, earn, and grow their money during financial turmoil. Why wouldn’t you trust them with your money?

For a small business like mine that does website development some of the luxuries that larger corporations have with test servers, and the like just aren’t always possible. Yeah I would love to have a place to run tests at my place of work running in a linux environment just like how things will be run later, and to be able to store information and new designs in a more secure place. But it’s just plain expensive. That’s why I was so happy when I found a used IBM iSeries 520 server on PerfData.com. PerfData.com is dedicated to businesses that are running IBM iSeries 520 servers and would like to keep spare parts around, or pick up used systems for less than new prices.

Perf Data accommodates my small business needs while still keeping the strong professionalism that you might expect from a larger corporation. I’ve never been dissatisfied with their customer service, or had any troubles with the used parts that they weren’t willing to work with me on. They also give out troubleshooting assistance. Whenever I have an issue with tuning, or more complex issues Perf Data is always there to back up their customers wants and needs! That’s why I have chosen Perf Data for my small business.

I’ve been working from home for quite some time now. It poses many benefits, not just for me, but also for my employer. Benefit packages can be very costly for companies, large facilities cost a great deal of money, and electricity doesn’t come free. All of these things my employers would have to pay if I worked in the office. However allowing me to work from home provides several benefits for both of us. I can use my own computer (which is a benefit to both of us since I don’t have to use crappy cheap computers, and they don’t have to spend tons of money providing computers). All utilities for my work are paid by me, sort of a downside on my part, but to be closer to my family it is well worth it. And I don’t have any sorts of benefit packages working from home. This is another questionable item for myself, if you must have health insurance it’s bad, if you’re like me and could do without the health insurance the higher pay is nice. The other really nice thing for me is that there is hardly any commute time, I go to the post office to mail in some stuff every once in a while, but that is it.

One hardship of working from home has always been the communication. Recently my company bought me a webcam though so that we could communicate through web and video conferencing. It really has streamlined the creative process when we’re tossing around ideas for new websites, or trying to figure out progress reports. nefsis.com has really helped us to streamline production even with multiple freelancers spread across the globe we’re all able to communicate and work together more easily now with web and video conferencing. Guess that means I’ve got to start putting on pants before work more often though ;-)

A lot of older movies sort of make fun of the idea of “white washing” fences, movies like the adventures of Tom and Huck talk about it. And it used to be a great American past time where you went out and painted the fences once every year. When everyone had wooden fences this was a reality, you had to paint them every year or else they would rot away. Now most people with fences have chain link fences, much lower maintenance but definitely not as aesthetically appealing. So what if you want a good looking wooden fence, but don’t want to spend all that time painting it? Thanks to technology you can now coat your fence with Fence Spray a durable protective coat that is quick to apply, and lasts much longer than standard “white washing”.
