Alright, call me a faux nerd, or faux fan all you want, but I had never seen the Animatrix until tonight… and honestly couldn’t care less, when it comes to seeing it again. I only really watched it because WildIrishRose and I got it because there’s a nice deal at the Evil Empire where you get all four Matrix movies for $10… not too bad. We decided to watch The Animatrix tonight since neither of us had seen it. The first one in CGI was my favorite, after that it just went down hill. There were a few that were interesting, a few that sort of helped to tell the in between story, but for the most part it’s not worth wasting your money on (unless you get it in the pack, or have netflix it might be worth watching then).
I wasn’t terribly impressed with the Animatrix myself, but it is worth checking out if you don’t have to pay anything extra for it. It also wasn’t exactly what I expected… what I had always heard was that it was the story between stories… which isn’t 100% true, although it does tell some of the story between the stories, that’s not what it is. The Animatrix is nine short films in either CGI or Anime that tell nine mostly unrelated stories (though there are two that are in sequence) about things that have gone on since the matrix’s construction. When I saw the first one I kind of got excited and wanted to see what happened next, or prior to the situation rather. I was disappointed when that was all that there was. Most of the stories are fairly interesting but don’t tell enough of their own stories to really give you any idea of what is going on, much less enough information to be any sort of in between story. If you know enough about the three other Matrix movies you can pull together ideas of what might of happened for each story, but that’s about the best you get, you’re still guessing.

Do SEO “experts” have a impending crisis on their hands? According to Google the “Remove/Promote” feature they’ve implemented only affects the person logged in. I can believe that for now, but what about in the future? It’s not too hard to believe that one day the search results will be controlled by not only the search algorithm, but user feedback. This isn’t bad news for legitimate websites, but for those just skimming under the radar, or running sketchy virii filled websites look out! I’m kind of torn on the idea… On one hand my sketchy money making sites might fall a little bit, or a lot for that matter. But my legitimate websites may increase! So on one hand I’d kind of like to see the system implemented full scale to let users decide what goes to the top, sort of like Digg, or StumbleUpon for Google. On the other hand it really just might make the spam problem worse… which I’m sure is what Google is trying to figure out right now. Unfortunately they can’t figure it out until users results start to affect others, or peoples pocket books.

Earlier last week there were reports out of Beijing of a students hospitalization because of a Panda biting incident. Apparently the college student from Southern China just needed a hug. While visiting the zoo in Beijing the unnamed student jumped the six and a half foot tall fence surrounding the Panda habitat to hug one of the fluffy cuddly creatures only to find that they’re not so cuddly after all. The panda bit the student repeatedly on the arms and legs reports a zoo employee.
The official Xinhua News Agency reports the hospitalized student later said the panda was so cute and cuddly he never expected to be bitten. Guess he’ll think twice next time before jumping into a penned up animals home. Domesticated as they may be they’re still animals, and uh… well they still bite.
Surprisingly enough this is not the first time these Panda’s have struck fear into the hearts of the Beijing populous. Not surprising because pandas look so cute and cuddly I’d never suspect them of biting anyone. Pandas may look docile but can be vicious when they feel threatened. But surprising because this is not the second, but third time these pandas have bitten visiting tourists. The first attack was… well more of an attack from a drunken tourist who stumbled into the Pandas enclosure, after being bitten by the Panda the man reportedly bit back. The same Panda Gu Gu later in 2007 mauled a 15 year old boy who climbed the 1.4 meter (approx four and a half foot) tall fence. The fence had been raised to six and a half feet, but that still didn’t stop this college student who just wanted a hug and was viciously bitten on the arms and legs on November 22, 2008. The panda in this incident was named Yang Yang… and was not as ferocious with his attacks as Gu Gu was. I think we can all learn a lesson here though, no matter how cute, fuzzy, and warm a panda may appear to be… don’t look to them for a hug. You might pick something less vicious than a panda bear such as a Bengal Tiger… At least the death would be a quicker one than being gnawed upon by a vegetarian bear. On second thought, if you’re really that depressed go see someone for counseling, get a dog, or sign up for a dating site Wild animals don’t tend to be the best option for your affectionate needs.
